Bookkeepers - Generalists/Assistant Accountants

BEFORE YOU PROCEED:

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will handle a wide range of accounting and administrative tasks, including:

Daily & Weekly

  • Full‑function Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable

  • Bank, credit card, and petty cash reconciliations

  • Assisting with cashflow maintanance

  • Daily transaction processing and ledger maintenance

  • Managing supplier statements, queries, and payment schedules

  • Generating and sending customer invoices, statements, and reminders

Monthly

  • Preparing month‑end journals (accruals, prepayments, depreciation, etc.)

  • Balance sheet reconciliations and reporting

  • Assisting with payroll preparation (timesheets, leave, allowances, etc.)

  • Managing cashflow reporting and variance monitoring

Quarterly / Annual

  • BAS/IAS preparation and submissions (or supporting the accountant)

  • EOFY support, including budgets, audit requests, and documentation

  • Liaising with external accountants, auditors, and stakeholders

  • General Administration

  • Maintaining financial records, filing systems, and compliance documents

  • Supporting management with ad hoc finance projects and analysis

  • Contributing to process improvements and system efficiency

Key Responsibilities:

 

The Financial Analyst will provide data-driven insights, financial modelling, and strategic analysis to support decision-making.


Financial Analysis & Reporting

 

  • Analyse financial statements, budgets, and forecasts to identify trends and variances

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management and clients

  • Develop and maintain financial models for forecasting and scenario planning

  • Monitor KPIs and provide actionable insights to improve performance

Budgeting & Forecasting 

 

  • Assist in preparing budgets and rolling forecasts

  • Conduct variance analysis and recommend corrective actions

  • Support clients in strategic planning and resource allocation

Data & Market Analysis

Skills & Experience

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field

  • 5+ years' experience in financial analysis

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Advanced Excel skills (financial modelling experience essential)

  • Familiarity with BI tools and ERP systems (essential)

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills

Responsibilities

Depending on the role and payroll environment, responsibilities may include:

 

  • End-to-end payroll processing for weekly, fortnightly, or monthly cycles

  • Ensuring compliance with PAYG, superannuation, payroll tax, and STP reporting

  • Interpretation of awards, EBAs, and other payroll agreements

  • Managing leave, terminations, adjustments, and reconciliations

  • Responding to payroll-related queries from employees and management

  • Reporting on payroll data and assisting with payroll-related BI reporting

  • Supporting payroll improvements, automation, and accurate record-keeping
